Department of Humanities & Sciences
The Department of Basic Sciences and Humanities is presently being headed by Dr.T. Sreenivasulu Reddy, having 17 years of experience in teaching. The department comprises competent and experienced faculty belonging to different courses like Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, English, Environmental Studies and Biology. The faculty are undertaking research in many applied areas and publishing research papers in reputed National and International Journals. The department serves as the launch pad for the Engineering study by teaching students the foundation courses in Sciences and Humanities interfacing with the core subjects of engineering.
DEPARTMENT PHILOSOPHY
The Department aspires to provide knowledge in the areas of Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Humanities, Biology and Environmental studies to the students of engineering to lay strong foundation for respective core engineering discipline. The faculty of the department undertake research in advanced and interdisciplinary areas to keep abreast in the emerging domains.
OBJECTIVES OF BSH
To provide comprehensive conceptual treatment of Mathematics, Sciences and Humanities for a suitable application in engineering study.
To increase proficiency in English Language for enhanced employability.
To hone students with life skills and management skills to prepare them for the future.
To imbibe moral and ethical values in students to motivate them to engage in engineering projects in community service and honest professional practice.
MATHEMATICS WING
Wing of Mathematics was established to provide strong Mathematical back ground to Engineering Graduates and to cope up with the needs of Engineering and Technology at International level. The faculty were actively involved in research and published/ presented quality papers/book chapters in reputed journals/conferences(National and International)/guiding research scholars in different universities. Also the wing organised good number of workshops/seminars/ guest lectures/certificate courses related to technical and social issues.
PHYSICS WING
Physics is one of the oldest and fundamental academic disciplines of science. Physics also makes significant contributions in all the engineering & sciences through advances in new technologies that arise from theoretical breakthroughs. The physics wing consists of highly qualified, experienced, trained, dedicated, hardworking faculty members. The keynote point of the Department is to teach Applied and Engineering Physics for all B. Tech. students. The Applied and Engineering Physics course contents offered for B.Tech. students provides strong analytical skills and problem-solving abilities necessary for building strong Engineering career. The content of the course includes the topics from Wave optics, Quantum mechanics, Magnetic materials, Dielectrics, Electromagnetic Field Theory, Superconductivity, Semiconductors, Lasers, Optical fibres and Nanotechnology. The physics wing involves in valuable teaching and learning methods. Also the faculty members are highly research oriented and published many papers in reputed national and international journals.
PHYSICS LABORATORY
Applied and Engineering Physics Laboratory is the Basic Science laboratory common to first year students of all branches of Engineering, which facilitates a group of 60 students to carry out experiments individually. The laboratories are well-equipped with all the required instruments like Hall-effect, Stewart-Gee’s apparatus, Spectrometers, LASER, Optical fiber and travelling microscopes…etc., and enable the students to understand the practicality of the fundamental concepts in Engineering Physics useful for their future study of engineering courses.
CHEMISTRY WING
The prime responsibility of the wing is to organize the teaching of Engineering Chemistry for B. Tech. students of all engineering branches and provide research facilities in the thrust areas of Applied Chemistry and related engineering disciplines. The chemistry wing is very active in teaching, research and administrative activities. The well established research groups led by the faculty members, offer research facilities in the areas of Environmental chemistry, Water pollution control, Ultrasonic studies in organic compounds, Corrosion control of various metals and alloys, Spectrophotometric analysis of various drugs and pesticides and Synthetic heterocyclic chemistry.
ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE
The faculty members handling Environmental Science are also a part of the wing, and they are actively involved in research related to environmental issues like assessment and control of environmental pollution, etc. Further, they are continuously putting their efforts in creating awareness on various environmental issues among students of the campus and beyond.
CHEMISTRY LABORATORY
Engineering Chemistry laboratory can accommodate 60 students in all to execute their practical works supporting their academics. The laboratory is well equipped with various instruments like PH -meters, potentiometers, conductivity meters, electronic balances, De-ionizer plant …etc. The main objective of the laboratory is to expertise the students in volumetric analysis, and to provide hands on experience with different types of instruments to analyze various chemical samples, both quantitatively and qualitatively.
ENGLISH WING
The English wing has been striving hard striding its way to acquiring academic excellence in making the students linguistically aware and communicatively competent. Culled from various specializations, the members of faculty undertake active research while adroitly executing the pedagogic operations. In addition, the wing is actively engaged in the organization of various Literary, Cultural, Patriotic, Nationalistic and such other Skill Based, Memory based, Knowledge based and Fine-art based activities amply facilitating the process of producing Rounded Professionals.
COMPUTER AIDED MULTIMEDIA ENGLISH LANGUAGE LABORATORY
The Computer aided Multimedia English Language Laboratory is intended to access English language laboratory software for the development of the students in English Language proficiency and LSRWT Skills, through the exercises like Phonetics, Functional Grammar, Information Transfer, Reading and Listening Comprehension. The laboratory is equipped with 100 Computer systems connected to High Class 4.0 Multimedia Educational Network Teacher Console.
ENGLISH LANGUAGE COMMUNICATION SKILLS LABORATORY
English Language Communications Skills Laboratory is an E- Class room having a Public Address System, Podium and a Projector in interface with the computer system. The Laboratory is used to conduct Group Discussions, Debates, and other exercises related to life skills and personality development, wherein the students will interact with their peers and faculty there by developing LSRWT skills among them.
